Psalms 78:4 “We will tell the next generation…”
Growing Up - this new endeavor is about our responsibility to invest in the next generation.
A few months ago, some of our leaders met together on the 3rd floor. We looked at the last portion of our building that is unused, and we circled up to pray about what could be. We were all gripped with the sense that what could be, should be.
Growing Up is an invitation to help us do two things at another level:
1. Establish appealing environments for our children.
2. Partner with parents to be a consistent, faithful presence in their child’s life each week.
We’ve come a long way since those early days. Back in the day, babies were being held in the laps of mothers by the bar in Duling Hall. Then, we moved over to share space with Woodland Hills Baptist Church. But, those first months involved dreary spaces with peeling wallpaper and decades-old shag carpet and chandeliers. It’s been a great delight to restore and make this historic building come to life.
As we grow up and our children grow up, we have an urgent need to quickly renovate the remaining portion of our 3rd floor! This is the final frontier and when this is complete, every square foot of our building will be in use! Growing Up involves creating 9 additional Children’s Ministry rooms for our elementary-aged kids along with a space and plan for our Special Needs Ministry.
As we resource these new rooms with leaders to disciple every kid, we need 30 new volunteers to serve as teachers and small group leaders. New leaders who show up for our kids will be a tangible expression of God’s love.
We’re asking for:
1. $300,000 in over and beyond giving
2. 30 new teachers and small group leaders
If we are able to meet and exceed our goal in giving, we will be able to hire one additional full-time Children’s Minister!
